On another note, the Cairo Milestone 1 is still relatively on track. We are still pushing for a June 29 release. Nevertheless, with the recent news surrounding Windows 7, the team (as well as our community) have been asking about Cairo and Windows 7. Will we include multi-touch support in our 1.0 release? Cairo will not be developed with multi-touch in mind as our primary platform is Windows Vista. However, should the necessity and opportunity present itself, we will work to make Cairo 2.0 multi-touch compatible. While we can’t say for certain what our plans are for Windows 7, there is always a time and a place for planning.

Until next time…

No offense developers, but shouldn’t code be first priority? I’m all for contests and graphics, but you guys have a project that in essence could be the ‘end-all’ to desktop function and elegance. Many many people are patiently awaiting the first sign of something tangible, and while the backgrounds submitted are aesthetically pleasing, we’d really rather have Cairo on our computers.

I’m not bashing anyone, I’m merely showing my enthusiasm for this project. I’ve been following it for a little over 4 years now, and if I were a dev, I’d jump on board in a heartbeat.

Come on guys, bring on the public beta! :)
