Weekly Update 11-17-07

Sorry for the lack of updates.

I played with an alpha of our file explorer recently. It’s coming along quite nicely.

With time freeing up in the future for the holidays, the team and I will be able to focus more on Cairo and share more concept images, maybe even a live screenshot of the work thus far, but let’s not get to worked up about it as things can change.

Sorry for the short update, but duty calls…

Weekly Update 11-3-07

We are still looking for developers. Feel free to email us or message us on MSN messenger if you are interested in a position. I’m not going to say we’re desperate (because we aren’t), but adding more developers will help us release Cairo quicker, so the whole community benefits. Send in those applications!

In other news, development is ongoing. Joe showed me a pre-alpha version of the Cairo file explorer. It’s still a long way off, but it’s here. While it lacks a lot of the functionality, we have decided to make Cairo applications plugin based as well. This way power users can have a file explorer that meets their needs, while someone who just needs to find a file or two can leave it slick and slim. Regardless, it’s no longer just a concept image.

We now have 305 registered forum members and have surpassed 15,000 unique visitors. That may not sound like much, but it is a huge accomplishment for us and we are very grateful.

This ends this weekly update. Short and sweet.

Factoid: Eskimos use refrigerators to keep food from freezing.

Best,

The Cairo Team
